Bhaswati Bhattacharyya

I am working in the field of Pulsar Astrophysics .
I study pulsar emission physics using the GMRT observations.
I am working as principal investigator in the project of "Searching for millisecond pulsations in the nearby universe at the positions of Fermi LAT unassociated sources with the GMRT".
I have done my PhD from National Centre for Radio Astrophysics (NCRA-TIFR). Title of my thesis is "Single pulse study of wide profile drifting pulsars - a probe of pulsar magnetosphere".
Currently I am a Post Doctoral fellow at Inter University Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics.

My Research Interests :

• Searching for millisecond pulsations in the nearby universe at the positions of Fermi LAT unassociated sources : discovery of six interesting millisecond pulsars (till now)


• Timing of the six interesting millisecond pulsars discovered at the GMRT


• Phenomenon of subpulse drifting : analysis and interpretation of observed drifting and modeling of the polar cap radiation


• Phenomenon of Nulling : distribution of pulse intensity before and after nulls, investigation for presence of weak emission during nulls, simultaneity of nulling between different frequencies of observations


• Simultaneous multi-frequency study: studied broad band nature of pulsar radio radiation using simultaneous multi-frequency observations


• Polarization properties : studied the average and single pulse polarization for few pulsars, fitted Rotating Vector Model to the PA curved to determine the viewing geometry


• Flux calibration : determined the flux of the pulsar at observing frequencies and derived the spectra


• Orbit of binary pulsars : developed a novel method for determination of orbital parameters of binary pulsars


• Search of radio pulsars


• Microstructures : study of micro structures with the aim to probe basic units of pulsar radio emission


• Millisecond pulsars : study of polarization and single pulse properties of millisecond pulsars
